Research as a journey of discovery

Out of curiosity for matter and process art arises.

Materials used are frequently out of the natural world.

issues

Nowadays with the global warming, natural disasters and other ecological issues, people face many dilemmas. External conflicts cause trauma. The pain brings confusion. At the same time not enough people are aware of the lethal impact all these external stresses cause on the peoples themselves.

aim

By drawing the viewer into my work, I hope to give them some reprieve from the external pressures of nowadays life. Showing vulnerability and curiosity from my part, might give encouragement to the viewer to show the same. Curiosity might guide them to their own wonders happening within themselves again. Who knows it might encourage them to have a different look towards their own positioning in the world. Is it bringing them closer to their own goals or further away? They might see a flickering of what could be changed within this. Everybody has a choice in this as little as it might be. I am aware this is a delicate process to go through. Yet it is feasible. As things change internally, things externally will follow.

results

An eclectic mix of tangible sculptures, wallhangings, paintings and/or installations come together with poetic stories. The materials, derived often out of nature. Treeroots and earth gathered and processed. Seedlings and bamboo cultivated and presented. Monumental and individual in form, they display a strength and beauty of simplicity.

viewer

For the viewer the work might feel alienating at first. Through receiving background information, curiosity will take over. An urge of wanting to see detail, wanting to touch and smell or wanting to walk through the work, draws the viewer in. It is an invitation to get lost in an inner world. A world which can be simple and honest. Deepening, overwhelming and vast all at the same time. Recognition works transformational and invites for more. Who knows this eclectic mix might work as nourishment for the soul.

process

When matter appeals to me, curiosity will draw me in. Further investigation through play and staying receptive, reveals a newly to explore vast world. The discovery of special qualities brings in the urgency to reveal and highlight those discoveries. The results give euphoria. They are not directly thinkable yet they are directly experienceable. They are noted, the work put aside and possibly worked on at a later stage.

texts

In a poetic manner titles and texts reflect in simplified form the creation process. Each work has its own story and can be understood from out of its own processes. These processes can be placed again within a larger context which is connected with life itself and its own processes. Information is derived from background history, thought patterns, material usage and/or the workprocess itself.

conclusion

I am aware this is a delicate process to go through yet it is feasible. As things change internally, things externally will follow.
